This appeared in my bag of dried foliage from last year. Does anyone know who he might be?
CLOSED: Found in the dried leaves
This appears to be an underwing moth (Lepidoptera: Erebidae); Catocala sp. - see http://tinyurl.com/28hvunp for an example. They are called underwings as most species have their hind wings banded in yellow, orange, or red that only are visible when the moth spreads its fore wings. These moths until very recently were placed in the family Noctuidae.
