So last year my strawberry bed had some strange, tiny, red-orange insects crawling around it during summer. I didn't want to spray insecticide around my berries so I just killed what I could see with my shoe. I was just weeding the area this weekend when I noticed red-orange pods laying in groups on top and sometimes on the undersides of the strawberry leaves. I'm a little discouraged, I don't know what I'm dealing with here. I've plucked the pod-infested leaves that I've found but I'm sure I can't find them all! Am I going to have to burn my strawberry beds to the ground? :)
I'll post a picture of the pods tonight. I didn't have a camera available yesterday.

Finally got a camera!
These are too small to obtain a clear image, but these look more like beetle eggs to me than anything else - see http://tinyurl.com/2e2lk2b for an image of lady beetle eggs.
The link eggs aren't as oval as the ones I have? I've taken a closer pic.
