That always hurts. I know you did your best to keep him/her alive.

We have to grieve a little, then continue on with life, and celebrate and enjoy the living ones.

What other choice do we have?

Makes me think of my own family. I read the other day that only one third of human beings will live to the age of 65. Here I am at 53, so that sure put things in perspective a bit better. If I knew I only had 12 years to live, what would I do with those years?

Too often life turns into some kind of contest, but really it never should be. In the end we are all destined to die. Which reminds me, someday when I have defeated my pride and fears, I should write my little brother a letter.

LFJ I am doing all the things I want to do in life now well at least the ones I am able to do. I already had to give up my plants. My animals are what keeps me moving and outside everyday for a little while. I just threw my 2nd blood clot Monday. It must have been small because the pain and bleeding only lasted a day not days days like the first one that put me in the hospital for a week. I will only be 50 in Nov.. I didn't go to Dr because there is nothing they can do about it as I have a blood clotting disease they found out and I want to die at home. I have a DNR notorized and on file at the hospital and I give my family reminders about it a few times a year. My DH was yelling at me that I am trying to do to much and I have to many animals. I just looked at him and told him I would rather be dead than sit in the house 24/7 alone 15 hrs a day. I have chairs in or near all my pens and down by the pond so I can sit and visit with them

I was diagnosed with lupus (SLE) at age 28, but had been sick since age 12, so I had undiagnosed lupus 16 years. Then after they discovered I was truly very ill, they gave me drugs that almost killed me. That's why I sometimes comment how I do not trust doctors or pharmaceutical companies.

I take white willow bark, to thin my blood, along with uva ursi, hawthorn berries and other herbs and minerals. The uva ursi I know has literally saved my kidneys and life. My health improved when I quit eating white sugar and drinking cokes and cleaned up my diet, eliminating most artificial colors, flavors and preservatives.

I've been trying coral calcium lately and do seem to have a bit more energy. Some of the naturopathic doctors are saying that our bodies are too acidic which is why we get sick, and coral calcium has an alkalizing affect.

Lupus can cause tiny blood clots, even in the brain.. pretty scary. Stress and sunlight are the biggest problems for me. I have to avoid both if possible. Talk about having to stay in the house.. yuck! :) I just have to adjust and do my mowing and weeding or whatever as the sun goes down. I bought one of those lights that strap on your head so I can do things at night too. I really like my light.

Sorry to hear you are having problems, and hope you feel better soon.

I understand about the chickens. They keep me going too.

Monday a week ago not yesterday on the clot. Both have been to my intestines. My dad died at 56 with one to the heart enroute to hospital and my Aunt, Moms baby sister died at 38 instantly. It took mine to find out that we have a family related disease on both sides. They could find no reason for it with Colonoscopy and MRI so sent me for genetic testing. I have Fibro and RA. Had shoulder and back surgery due to bad fall. Have Bone grafts, 2 rods and 6 screws in my lower back. Think the Fibro muscle pain is worse than all of them. It went into remission for almost 2 months for the first time in 30 yrs. I didn't know how to act having the full body pain gone. but alas it came back :-(

The colours may keep evolving over time. At about four months they have a juvenile molt and their adult feathers come in. Sometimes it is quite a surprise!

Yes, you may want to wait on your decision about which to keep.

(Zone 6b)

I think they are all lovely. Admired your pens too. Would you mind taking a few more shots of those pens? :D

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Thank you all. It won't be real soon. Probably in Fall. I just don't like Buff/Fawn color and I don't need another tailed one. I have 3 full tailed ones and 2 partial tailed ones now. I will wait and see. I want to get rid of Blue one of my Blues and maybe Monkey my BBR. Both are full tailed. MS Peeps is full tailed but she is my baby and won't be going anywhere.

LFJ I have been meaning to take pics of my coops and runs but just haven't gotten around to it. They are all built off one another. Will try to get it done soon
