If I'd known this little creature was there, I'd have tried to get a better shot. Didn't notice him until I viewed the shot on my computer.
The legs are alot like a Wolf Spider, and I believe some Wolf Spiders are semi-aquatic, but...well - I've no idea what kind of spider this is, but I am very curious!
As you may be able to tell, he was lurking under the Alligator weed on the pond surface. This is in S. Carolina, by the way.
Here's the best shot I have....
Anyone know?
Thanks!
Deb
CLOSED: aquatic spider?
that's a fishing spider of some type =)
LadyAshleyR - Thanks! That certainly makes sense and narrows down my search. I'll see what I can find about fishing spiders.
Although the image is too blurry to be certain, I believe that this could be Dolomedes triton - see http://tinyurl.com/29o9zsm for an image.
I was looking around at photos and have come to the same conclusion, suunto - and since you think that, too, that's what I'll go with. :)
. Until I see him again - and who knows if that will happen - I'm considering this one solved.
Thank you both for your help!!
