Does anyone know how long it takes for Hellebore seeds to germinate? Thanks.

Hellebore seeds are best sown fresh. They need 6-18 months to germinate!
Don't sow them indoors, but outdoors (in containers), they will profit from a cold period.

Helleborus seeds of many varieties requires 3 months warm followed by 3 months at cool temperatures. So they would be good "wintersow" candidates if seeded first in the summer or fall. Drying the seeds is almost fatal. I have sprouted them using the frig for the cool temperature part. ( On moist paper towels). The problem is getting fresh seeds.

Thanks for response. I have the seeds and will try several methods. I am getting fresh seeds every few days. We got seedlings from a friend in 2007 and that is where the Hellebore in the picture came from. Again thanks.

Keep us posted on how they grow.
