Debra, your monarda (I forget the name) is blooming. It is more of a dark pink, ahn a true red. When do you want it?
Vickie, I dunno about your hydrangea - I may have killed it for you by leaving it for so long. My PCA came to water everything while I was gone, but it was REALLY hot, and it was in a little, small pot. It's really easy to start new ones from cuttings though. I'll give it some love and compost for a few days.
Anybody else that I owe anything to? Or anybody else want anything?
Yes, Vickie, I've been along the coast highway, but not on this trip. This was all interstate driving.
Looking for suggestions for gardening with MS
Debra, I think I’d better wait until about Sept. when it starts to cool off, if that’s okay. I’m afraid the intense heat, in addition to normal transplant shock might do the little beauty in.
Kay did do some transplanting this afternoon during a light drizzle. (She says in her practical voice that such rains are “good transplanting weather”. I say the truth of the matter is my wife never outgrew her love for playing in the rain.)
Today’s transplanting, however, was sort of a “have to” case. I planted an entire packet of very old chamomile seeds in a small pot on the off chance a few would germinate. Lol. From the look of the pot, they were ALL still viable. Ooops! I’d better develop a taste for Chamomile tea.
Carrie, I always want to get from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible when driving. Preferably, in less time than the GPS system says it should take. It's like a competition. I think it's primarily a guy thing. The women in the car usually want to take the slower scenic route. (Jim)
Carrie, I can take any plant any time, here, but Ithink I killed the Echinacea. Trying to revive it, but it looks like Cheyne-Stokes has set in. Will keep you posted.
Jim, no problem. Smart to wait. It is in a pot since receipt and all the fans have done quite well.
Kay is one smart woman.
Chamomile tea is a sleep aid and anti-inflammatory. :-)
Debra
I like chammomile tea with mint and honey added. All good for relaxation. A little dab of lemon don't hurt either.
My mind is in a vickie fuzz Is'nt Echinacea, purple cone flower. Mine are blooming now and i'll have lots of seeds later on and they do come up. I can send eveyone seeds later.
I'll also, have some iris seeds. Has anyone ever tried those. I've had a couple come up in strange places so i know at least some come up.
Jim i bet you'd stay lost for hours without going into a service station to ask for directions. Or is that one of my familys male things. I was always so very happy my DH let me navigate without asking questions.
Debra, The only time i like interstate is between me and Little Rock and me and Fort Smith, Cause i know everything in between and am usually in a hurry. Right now i'm avoiding I40 SINCE I'M STILL BLIND AS A BAT. But not for long. Yeah!
Vickie, I pulled part of an Sunset Echinacea to pot up for Carrie. It didn't take too well to the change and seems to have keeled over. Put a seed head in the pot with it, though. Keeping fingers crossed.
Debra
Yes, in our marriage I am "mapgirl" and I don't insist on driving. (anymore) I have an adapted van with hand controls that give me tendinitis. So I haven't been driving much in 2010 :(. But I feel lost without a map. GPS, bah, humbug.
Debra, I am sad to hear about that coneflower but not really surprised. Don't they have long tap roots and not come true from seed? Ah well, I killed Vickie's hydrangea, although we had a thorough, drenching rain today (it drenched me) so maybe it will revive.
Jim, refilled Flonase and I can smell again. The Apache daylily has a fragrance. It's really light, but nice.
Debra
Way cool! I figure if I start my daylily collecting with some that have fragrance Kay will be more inclined to water and weed them for me. lol. (Jim)
Ha ha yes! Have you tried agastaches, Jim? Or is the soil too clay down there - they need super-perfect drainage, but are famously fragrant.
there is a pattern somewhere here @ DG for a homemade vest using the polysorb crystals. i didn't make one, but it looked really cool (pardon the pun) and was reported as not heavy and very effective !
polysorb - like in diapers? the moisture crystals we put in container plants? (I do, sometimes...)
LOVE the pun, Sheri!
yes Carrie, the same polysorb that we mix in planting soil and appreciate in diapers.
There was a group coop buy about a year ago and someone posted the pattern for the vest. It was quite ingenious and looked like it would be very effective. I know that I luv my headband/ neckerchief ones.
I will try diligently to locate that pattern and instructions.
Sheri
I remember about the coop - critterologist probably was in it and could locate the threads quickly. Want me to ask her? She wrote an article about using the crystals.
I'll never forget when those things were new, the first time I saw a baby with a plastic diaper totally full of polysorb hanging between her or his legs at a wading pool!! (I used cloth diapers and we just took em off for swimming.)
Yes Carrie, Jill probably has a metter method of searching than I do for that pattern.
Will you ask her, or shall I? It's almost annoying how organized she is!
I will right now.
All right!! You guys know critter? I'm gonna go steal her dog Andre anyday now.
I have'nt been to the pet forum since i got back. Just here, With the important people! LOL
Right - the IMPORTANT people!
Of Course!!!!!
Jill is one of those people who can locate every thread she ever read...
Kay and some of her friends do call themselves V.I.P.s. lol.
I think I ran across Critter on the Herb forum. She's a devotee of Chocolate Basil. :-)
