On a radish flower, so the insect was maybe half an inch
CLOSED: small fly? enlarged abdomen? Maryland
This is a muscoid fly, possibly in the family Anthomyiidae - see http://tinyurl.com/2ue3kjo for an example. The grossly enlarged abdomen may indicate that the fly is infected with a pathogenic fungus. See http://tinyurl.com/29k6ccj for an example.
Thanks! This is probably as solved as its gonna get. I never suspected disease, I thought maybe eggs. So interesting!
