I want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers on the forum. Tomorrow, my mom would have been 96 years wonderful, but she passed away last week. One of my cousins sent me this poem and I think it is a lovely tribute for those of us who have lost our mothers. We have lots of love to give, so remember to give someone a hug on Sunday.
Mom loved yellow flowers, and I just happened to find this yellow Phalaenopsis today - Happy Birthday Mom and Happy Mother's Day.
Now that I am gone,
remember me with smiles and laughter.
And if you need to cry,
cry with your brother or sister
who walks in grief beside you.
And when you need me,
put your arms around anyone
and give to them what you need to give to me.
There are so many who need so much.
I want to leave you something -
something much better than words or sounds.
Look for me in the people I've known
or helped in some special way.
Let me live in your heart
as well as in your mind.
You can love me most
by letting your love reach out to our loved ones,
by embracing them and living in their love.
Love does not die, people do.
So, when all that's left of me is love,
give me away as best you can.

Happy Mother's Day
Kathleen, so sorry to hear about your mom. I'm sure you're missing her a lot, especially this weekend.
Thank you Kathleen for a most wonderful poem. Thinking of you today.
Yes, I'm thinking of her. We decided she and Dad are dancing in a ballroom today. I didn't want to put a damper on the holiday, but those of us who don't have our mothers any longer can still be happy about the ones we did have! And hug the next generation of moms. ^_^
I am sad to hear you've lost your mom Kathleen. Before I logged in here, I was just thinking that this year my mom's birthday falls on Mothers Day! I don't recall that ever happening while she was still with us. Beautiful flower.
Thanks, PC, she had a long full life. Yes, it was always a fun time for Mom, her birthday being so close to Mother's Day. My DMIL's birthday was 7 May, too! I always made a point of giving them cards, etc. for both days - why should they get cheated out of one? My MIL lived in England, though, and their holidays are different than ours.
That's my YB#2's Birthday too, KC.
KC that was a lovely poem, one that I plan on sharing with others.
The first Birthday and the first Mother/Father's Day without your parent are really hard. You and Sally got hit with a double whammy. : - (
Hugs to all the Mom's out there. Even if you are a furbabies, or a feather ones Mom, you still deserve a hug!
KC and Sally, you already know how I feel, and I like the idea of your Mom and Dad Ballroom Dancing. I can just see them in my mind's eye. They dance together like they are two parts of one person. Lovely! : - )
I was thinking about my surrogate parents, Mom & Pop Erickson, and I always picture them out in their shade garden reading a good book with a cat curled up next to them.
It comforts me, and makes me smile.
Even if I'm late with posting this,
Walk In Beauty all of you Mom's. You've earned it!

So sorry to hear about your mom, Kathleen :-(
The poem is just beautiful.
Take care of yourself knowing that she is happy in a beautiful place now.

Thanks, Karen. Hope you had a good Mother's Day!
