Does anyone have any good advice or helpful tips on starting an espalier? I have a big, bare wall on the east side of my barn that I have wanted to try a couple of espaliered trees on. Maybe something that is marginally hardy in my zone, like a persimmon. Has anyone else done this and what trees did you use?
Espalier
I seen one out of a tulip tree. It was at celebration city in Branson MO.
It was made into an arch if I remember right and was 'weaved' around a latice brace in a pattern, It was really neat, wish I had a pic.
Haven't done it, but I'd give a big old deciduous magnolia of some sort a try.
That'd be awesome on the broad side of a Minnesota barn...
