Propagating Erysimum (Wall flower)

I have some gorgeous variegated erysimums that I would love to propagate. Just the little starts are four bucks in the nurseries, and I need about 10 more of them for my rock wall.

I've heard of using potatoes for hardwood cuttings. Has anyone tried that?
