Source for 3-4 inch thick Bamboo used in Water Gardens

I am helping a neighbor try to find a source for 3-4 inch thick Bamboo used in Water Gardens, or that feng su (SP?) water sculptural thing. She needs a piece less than a yard. Any help appreciated.

Have you tried a local zoo? If you have a a zoo nearby, you might ask them. Most zoos that can grow bamboo, do. But they may actually use the old bamboo for the animals...so that may not work out. It's worth a shot though.
