How do you collect Lisianthus seeds? And what do they look like?
Lisianthus
I've only done it once (they are only an annual in our zone). Once the flower dies, it does form a pod which looks almost like a flower bud. They stay green for a long time; I think mine took a couple of months on the plant to dry. The seeds are microscopic, so you'll want to hold the pod over some white paper when you open it.
I ended up sending my seeds to someone last fall, so don't yet know how they turned out. I always just order seedlings, as the darned things take so long from germination to bloom. Unfortunately, they are an annual in our zone.
If you need a source for lisianthus seeds, this is where I order my seedlings from (and have ordered seeds from here as well) www.tsgardens.com
Terese is very reliable and her prices are reasonable--you can check her ratings on Garden Watchdog.
Good luck!
I just wish I could find the plants around here.
Angedawn--check the website I gave you....she has seedlings also. They ship small, but grow quickly. I usually give them a couple of weeks under light after I receive them and they usually double in size (I usually receive mine a week or two before my last frost date). The prices are also way less expensive than some of the big catalogs like Burpees.
Ok thanks.
