lilacs that won't blossom

Lexington, MA(Zone 5b)

I have three lovely lilac bushes, which get more than half day sun. After they were first planted, ?6-7 years ago they were full of blooms. The garden guys they made the mistake of trimming them, and they failed to bloom the next year. Last Fall, I pruned them vigorously, very low down. This year there wasn't a single blossom.
What do I do now?????
Can anyone help me restore them to their former glory???

Wait 7 years for them to flower again. That's about how long it takes lilac wood to mature enough to start flowering. Lilacs flower by far the best if never pruned.

Certainly don't prune them in the fall anymore!

Best to prune most any spring flowering shrub in the late spring, just after flowering. Removing any substantial amount of branches/stems/twigs in fall or winter effectively removes the blooms for the following spring.
