I have a couple of large clumps of orange & pink asiatic lilies. Around the bottom of these clumps there are smaller, shorter plants with only one leaf. Will those 'grow up' in the next few years & be big lilies too or is this part of the foliage?

Asiatic Lilies with one leaf ....
Yep, those are babies and they will 'grow up'. Next year they will be a little stem, then they'll keep getting bigger and bloom.
cool ... thanks very much! I'm all for more babies & blooms lol
Those guys look pretty crowded. After they bloom, you might want to separate them some, and you may find more babies that you thought were possible. I'll bet they're gorgeous when they bloom in abundance.
I'm not exactly one to talk since I've had some pretty close together, but I learned the hard way to wait till after they have bloomed to move.
We thought we removed all the lilies from a bed last year, but to our surprise, they left descendants, large and small.
I know what you mean. I have had in my head that these have to be separated a bit. This clump is now HUGE! I had no idea these lilies got this tall! I have many clumps of this & that here & there. I let them get nice & full then separate or give to friends. These particular lilies are crowed with an old english rose & azalea.
here is the clump from last year. I planted these & they have probably doubled in overall size because this plant is BIG! Will post a photo when in bloom .... will be soon!
I love your planter. Which lilies are those?
Just because the lilies are a little close for their comfort does not mean they don't look beautiful in full bloom.
Last year's clump is gorgeous.
GE ... those are Asiatic. Don't know the name just pink I guess lol There was no tag .... of course .... I hate that!
Thanks Cathy ... I agree. I have 'full' &/or 'crowed' stuff everywhere, but I tend to do things differently. Most of my front & back yards are cottagy so lots of 'crowded' plats are here. Ehen someone comes over & loves something I can always get them a nice clump to start for themselves. :o)
Here is a lovely photo I took after a gentle rain.
It IS lovely.
Intense color.I have skadds of noid lilies, whats one more?
lol .. more the merrier!!
