LA Garden Show

Beverly Hills, CA

I am very new to gardening. Is the LA Garden Show a good show to go to?

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I've never been to the LA Garden Show, but looking at the landscape displays they have this year, I'd go just to see the one by Jeff Moore of Solana Succulents and the Out of Africa display by the Arboretum staff and volunteers.

There are also very interesting plant vendors and societies, particularly Australian Native Plants and the Theodore Payne Foundation.

I'm really surprised that no one from down your way has responded to your question.

faeden,
I don't recall hearing of it before.
Most of us down here are out in the garden, planting our new plants from the RU. Others who are more familiar with the LA Garden Show will probably check in soon.
Mocha, aren't you a newbie? Welcome! : - )
I don't know a whole lot myself, but in my climate, I've found the CA Natives to work well, but some of my favorites are just the same as what faeden suggested. I am also able to grow some tropicals. I'd go just to see what a garden show is like if you've never been to one.
Take your time, wear comfy shoes, and be prepared to spend more money than you planned. : - )
Hope you go, take photos and share them with the rest of us.

Mocha, I don't live there, but I went to the San Francisco Show, and it was fun!

You get to see display gardens, there are lots and lots of vendors and nurseries selling anything even remotely to do with gardens and plants, books, food.

Make it a field trip and chat with fellow gardeners.

And make pictures when you go!

Oh, that's AWFUL! The Out of Africa display COULD have been wonderful, and it definitely wasn't. And I didn't even see Jeff Moore's seascape, which is usually totally awesome. Take a look here: http://www.hgtv.com/landscaping/undersea-gardens/index.html
