Help...Peruvian Lily-Alstroemeria 'Mauve Majesty'

Gibsonia, PA

I bought 2 of these last year and left them in the garage over the winter even though they are supposed to be zone 5-6 hardy. I drag them out in the sun for every warm day we have. Still no growth. How can you tell if the rhizome/tuber is healthy? I also have 2 of the 'Princess Ivana' which I left in the ground the first winter and only 1 sprouted the next spring. I took this one inside this last winter and I'm proud to say it has a flower now. I recently noticed the Ivana that never sprouted last year is now growing...? Can anyone offer insight as to promoting their growth? They are beautiful plants to have and not cheap but I'm almost ready to put them on my trade list.

Can you post a picture of the roots?

If their still in pots can you gently side one out of the pot
and check carefully to see if the tubers are still there..they'll be white and hard
if there's just empty skins in the pot no tubers then they died off...

I have Sweet Laura planted in my front south facing flower bed going on 10 years now
I put her at least 8 inches deep heavily mulched and have managed to keep her alive and she's spread so much..
I got another Alstroemeria from a DGer in Texas planted it in Fall of 08..who last year decided to show up in Oct...
Frost got her but she made it through our first winter in the ground..
will see if she comes back this year on our schedule or hers..

Heres the photo of the dried tubers, inside is still stringy and pulp like. I was told if its a large enough root system to not disturb it and repot with fresh mix......something might still be alive. I have to make up my mind how much time I want to spend. Thanks a bunch.

soak them in some water and see if they plump up. If they do then plant them. It would be worth that much time.

I'd put them in a bigger pot with more soil and water it and put it off somewhere and see what they do...
Not much time or trouble..and if they start growing before they get too big.....plant the whole root system in the ground..
mine love the south side...
They really don't like being disturbed too much...
