There were several of these prying open the black currant blossoms (along with several bumblebees). They are about half the size of a bumblebee. Look at the "hands"! Does anyone know what they are?
CLOSED: Smaller than a bumblebee
Not a bee but a fly; appearing to be in the family Tachinidae - see http://tinyurl.com/28y5kws for an example. This is a very large family containing thousands of species; their larvae all are parasites or parasitoids on other arthropods and the adult flies feed primarily on pollen and nectar. See http://tinyurl.com/l5rgjj for detailed information.
Suunto, you are amazing! Thank you.
