Hi all -
Here's another I didn't see last year, but I now see often -- Western NC, again. About 1 1/4" long. Maybe a 1/2" wide? kind of greyish/silverish/almost goldish color..
Thanks,

CLOSED: what kind of bug? beetle? is this?
This is a metallic wood-boring beetle (Coleoptera: Buprestidae); likely in the genus Chalcophora - see http://tinyurl.com/2c6rr2k for an example. Their larvae are known as flat-headed wood borers - see http://tinyurl.com/24y3lje for an example.
Thanks suunto - my pc must have been messed up, the reply didn't show up til today - thanks, again!
