Well I've been away for about 9 days and it seems like I was just on the site. I am just so busy, but I plan to take this weekend and possibly next weekend off from the birds. I have some things I need to 'tend to at home. But I do have some new photos, well not newly taken, but new never the less. Here's a series on the American Wigeon. I hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping in.
Btw, I came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1080629/
Seeing Nature through the eye of a 500mm lens...Pt. 2
I love photos good photos of waterfowl. It is not easy to get it all right with the water and reflections etc. Beautiful!
Such clear and sharp photos, all of them. Very nice work, but sorry you'll be away from the birds for a while. Hurry back, I love seeing your photos.
Met, These shots are gorgeous!!!
Wonderful photos Al.
Great stuff as usual Al!!! Like the calling out shot, but all are superb! Looking forward to your next set.
Superb shots, Al.
Thanks everyone for the kind words...much appreciated. Hey Duc, I won't be out taking any new photos but I have plenty to post...big time back log.
Thanks again everyone. Have a good weekend
Excellent shots of the American Wigeon, Al. It's always nice to see various waterfowl but most have left for points north. Warblers have begun to slowly show up. But, I have yet to see a hummingbird. Look forward to seeing more of your backlog until you can get out. I checked E-bird this morning and no report yet of any Baltimore Orioles at Centennial Lake. They should arrive by this weekend. Wishful thinking, I guess ?
Cape May had their first Orchard Oriole the other day!
I love the American Wigeons, they are such a handsome duck!
Thanks Linthicum and Pelletory.
Linthicum I saw my Ruby-throated HB yesterday as me and my daughter sat in the family room; he's back. I place the feeder out about 2 weeks ago in the backyard tree hoping to get spotted. Now he knows where to come for some liquid energy.
Thanks for the update Linthicum. I'm going to bookmark E-bird.

About 2 weeks ago I visited Monticello Park (know as a hotspot for spring Warbler migration) to see if I would be lucky enough to catch an early visitor...well there was no such luck. So I took a trip over to Huntley Meadows - another park in VA - caught this little one just about when I entered onto the boardwalk. Here's a few shots of the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.
Very nice B-g Gnatcatcher set Al!! Looks like a nice dinner he had going on in the last one.
Ooooo, love that last one with all those little bugs. You GO gnatcatcher!
Great shots of the Gnatcatcher Met! He is so cute!
Wow! Love all those pics. Al.
Beautiful photos! I love this little bird.
Thanks everyone. Yeah regarding the last shot, he/she had some easy pickings.
It feels funny not to have been out in the field the last 2 weeks...just so much business to take are around the house and with the family. I should be back in action next week.
Take care everyone.
