Stellar Jays down at the 700' level - Anyone else notice?

Clovis, CA(Zone 8a)

We live at the 700' level in the foothills of Clovis, CA. I have lived here my entire life. I noticed that this spring there were tons of Stellar Jays in my oak trees. I have never seen the Stellars this low. We have a lot of Scrub Jays but they were chased off by the Stellars. They are absolutely beautiful but like the Woodpecker, they like to bury the acorns in my home!! They have destroyed the fascia on the east side of my home. They are working on the trim as I write. I have a log home and it looks like someone has been shooting at my house in areas.
I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed the Stellar Jay at an unusually low elevation. The weather is unusual and I wondered if that had something to do with it. Any ideas out there?

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I have them in my oaks and live at about 3.000 ft level in So CA. They are far enough away from the house that they aren't bothering it.
My Dad the Birder, said they were Stellars, but will try to get photos to show you. We have a lot more scrub jays than Stellars, but you know I haven't seen many of either kind this year. Hmmm?
My only thought is that they are looking for food. Between the drought, and the weird weather they needed to find a better place to live. You must have the perfect habitat. : - )
Sorry they are being pests. My Dad used to feed them peanuts and they'd come sit on his hat. I'm kind of fond of them but they haven't been pecking on my house.
I'll be checking back in probably next week.
Good luck up there with your new bird friends. : - )
