Spring Swap at Becky's - FOOD!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

ruby that sounds fine to me too, and
jill, plants optional ! it's really just our excuse. I've spent (some of) the day dealing with the IRS instead of my PLANTS. Sure you all can imagine how I feel about that! Still have that coleslaw to make. But van is gassed and most of plants ready enough.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Dang basement.

DH is making noises about not going... and I really wanted him to drive... Let's all hope he has a very restful & restorative night's sleep!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

ALL: I told Bec I had a 2nd cooler...which appears to be MIA...if anyone has a spare they can "fit" it would be helpful - please and thank you

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

responded on the other thread... already brought the cooler up from the basement. :-)

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

OK, then we are covered as far as coolers are concerned! We do have 2 tents/canopies & I'll bring out a 9' umbrella as well :)

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7b)

Where does this leave me?? Looks like a full course. I'll figure something out.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanx Jill...I just wanted to make sure someone saw it...so I posted both places....

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

I'm bringing 3 kinds of bread (focaccia, Greek olive , and pizza) and a goat cheese spread if I don't forget it.

I guess we're going to be up to our eyeballs in bread. I got two sourdough baguettes instead of the rolls and a couple of kinds of pesto today. Thought I'd make some bruschetta. I'm just too darned tired to make the corn pudding. Also got us a watermelon.

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Nah - never too much bread! :) Love pesto and love bruschetta even more :)

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

mmmmmmmm sourdough...my fav...time for bed...nite all

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Becky, if you think we're good with regard to canopies (it's not supposed to be blazing hot or anything, as far as I know), then I won't ask Jim to wrestle ours into the car. He's beat from hauling stuff around the basement today.

I just realized, I'm out of cream cheese! Anybody have a block they can bring for me? I'd be happy to reimburse... or to swap for a jar of pepper jam or something. I've got crackers. if not, no biggie, we'll stop for it.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Hart, do you already have the pesto? Because I can grab a couple of cubes from the freezer for a quick pesto butter to go with the bread.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Hand raised (now I'm really going to bed) I'll pick some up Jill...and NO you will not pay me - mercy!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Thank you, Chantell! ('sokay... I'll repay you in basil plants! got a little box packed for you.)

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Hmmmm - I'm half and half thinking we might not need an extra one (canopy) - BUT, scattered thunderstorms have been forecast - I'll have 2 10 x 10 canopies and a large 9' umbrella - I don't want Jim to wear himself out, I want him to join us! I'll leave the decision up to you - I don't have any cream cheese on hand

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

He had a hot soak and went to bed. I'm hoping he'll wake up feeling refreshed & enthused!

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

LOLOL - poor guy! Tell him it'll be ok, he'll have "dudes" to hang with - I even have great beer chilling in fridge right now :)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Thanks, but he'll probably stick to pop. :-)

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanx to Chantell we'll have plenty of that as well :)

Shenandoah Valley, VA

I got two kinds of pesto - basil and dried tomato, Critter.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

yummy!

Shenandoah Valley, VA

I must have been thinking of you, Critter. LOL

Crozet, VA

Man - What a good looking spread there was!!! I had a bowl of the wonderful cut up fruits on the ride home and everything was yummy. The Hello Dolly Bars were definitely out of this world and I for one am someone who would love to have the recipe.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the food stuff - it was really great!!!

Recipes!! Yes, we need recipes. Hello Dolly Bars, Sweet potato salad (the one that looked like carrot-raisin salad), that wonderful concoction of custard and chocolate and whipped cream, the slaw, the macaroni salad... everything was sooo good!

So, if you brought a goody, please come across with the recipe! :-)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

AND--Don't forget those AMAZING stuffed Dumplings the "other" Sally brought!!! OH, MY!!!!

Everyone loved them! No matter that the Soy sauce was soaking into my "Hello Dolly" bars---it was worth it!
Was it pork inside????

Give!!! I am sure we will have a Swap recipe Post--if it isn't up already! I just got home from work!
All sweaty and exhausted--watering since 9AM! NOT fair!!!!

Ohhhh those dumplings...I ate my share plus...soooooo yummy...and yes that sweet potato salad was positively YUMMMMMM....Jill, I think I ate all your jelly!!! ^_^ Brought home my jar and forgot the cream cheese at Bec's - sheesh...

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7a)

Oh yes! the food was wonderful. The potato salad, the dumpliings, the pickles, the brownies, the everything. I'm not sure which was more fun, the food or all the great plants we got?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I can't answer on food vs. plants... but as always, the best part was seeing all of you!
