Kikyozaki Lace Seedlings

(Doug) Murfreesboro, TN

Here is a picture of my first morning glory seedling to germinate this season. It is one of three Kikyozake Lace seeds that I soaked for 24 hours and then promptly planted in potting mix. I let it sit out in the warmth of day and moved it indoors to avoid nighttime temperatures in the forties. Two of the three germinated and sprouted within four days. Do I have the wrinkled leaf here or the smooth one?

That looks like your whirlpool or "wrinkly leaf" alright! Karen

Here is a grown plant showing the foliage and flowers.

P.S. And this JMG has double and single flowers on the same vines. The partially fertile double blooms and single fully fertile blooms are important for making your seeds to save as well.

ooh, I just got my seeds for this one, haven't started them yet, so I'm really curious as to what they look like..

Karen, did you post photos of these by chance?

Yep, right here. http://davesgarden.com/community/journals/si/220674/

They do have the occasional cull (1 or 2 in 10 seeds)appearing where there is a smooth leaf and round flower that will not conform to kikyo lace most likely a result of cross pollination by bees. Seperate them and grow them seperate if you want to or just enjoy them as is.
