The race for today is over. While I am not happy with the ending results I am sure there lots of Gordon(#24)fans out there. My family have always been Earnhardt(#3) fans. And racing kind of lost the interest in this house for awhile but now we cheer for Earnhardt Jr.(#8). But I have to admit I cheer for Jeremy Mayfield sometimes since he's from Ky. So Nascar fans who is your favorite driver?
Nascar fans!

big time Gordon fan. always will be:) but if I had to have a second, it would be Jarrett, isn't he gorgeous:) and so funny, I love the truck commercials.
Hey Sis I was sure hoping Jr would pull up there and win I was tickled he was in 3rd for so long. But I guess it was not to be. Oh I miss # 3 too.. Racing kind of took a change for me after that.
yes, and as you can imagine, I was jumping at the end of that race:)
Oh Tig I figured you would be.....lol I have to admit he is a cutie.lol
I just have to state for the record that we've been fans since he raced here in Atlanta when Petty retired. My hubby is a bigtime collector and there are Dupont colors all over my house. We're even going to make our spare bedroom in his colors with checkered curtains and all. I have it all planned out (hoping to get the stuff out of the living room, but the bedroom is hopeless:)
We have it bad:)
Yeah Sis so true. My DH and DS have put all their # 3 stuff together it looks like a like a monument to him. I didn't realize we had so much stuff. Hey Tig you collect Gordon stuff and we still collect #3 lol.... I liked Petty too! Funny so many of the names I heard today I had never heard of before .
I watched Jeff Gordon when he raced his very first Winston Cup Race (and Richard Petty's last). He hit the wall after only a few laps, but I liked the paint scheme on his car and made up my mind I would keep an eye on him.
The next year that he raced full-time Winston Cup (1993), I noticed that he wasn't at all "intimidated" if you get my drift. I have been a huge fan ever since.
I met Jeff once at Dover-- VERY nice guy. I also have met Ward Burton, Ricky Rudd, Mikey Waltrip, Chad Little (Gorgeous!), and Harry Gant. They are all really great guys, and tremendous role models for the kids.
Hmmm...seems to me Ya'll are definitely watching the DRIVERS ....you ever seen 'em race!? (hehehe..smirk, smile...chuckle...methinks ya'll are in luv!)
definately a DJ household here, alhtough we hate his new color scheme.
BUT, we WANT TO SEE HIM RACE THE TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah Inda I got your drift.lol Your so lucky to have met all those racers. I agree all of them are great role models for the kids. HMMMMMM well shoe ya know we have to get our thrills where we can get them. lol( when we can't see you in your fig leaf of course) lol
Well I hated racing until about 5 years ago and finally sat and watched with DH #3 for us, been hooked ever since. Losing Dale was a great loss, felt like one of the family died that day. But there is Jr. so we cheer for him now. I do like those commercials for UPS too funny. I love Nascar you never hear any of them getting thrown in jail, being busted for drugs, DWI, so on. And you never hear them whine about not making enough money. This is the one sport there is actually role models left in.
Now don't jump down my throat for this but....I read recently that NASCAR racing began with the "Moonshine runners". It said they souped up their cars to out run the "revenueers"(sp), and then began to meet and brag...and do a little racing of their cars...on a friendly baisis, then it evolved into Stock Car Racing. Jo
I watch the races every weekend, that is providing they aren't shown on cable.Have been a big Bill Elliott fan for quite a few years now. Also a fan of the Home Depot driver,Tony Stewart. He does have to watch his mouth tho.....gets him into too much trouble, but then he's still a kid. He has alot of growing up to do.Yes,roadrunner, they where a wild bunch way back when....Richard Petty,Neil Bonnet,Ned Jarrett,Benny Parsons, and all the rest of the bunch. Racing has been around for many years......most popular sport and keeps growing, but I do think that maybe they just might be building too many tracks. Many sure have been built the last couple of years.
I have a few of the autographs of some of the drivers but would like to get more to add to my collection. Maybe someday,I guess.
Sis,anyone that knows anything about racin should know who A.J. Foyt is. He has been around awhile.

Sure wanted to go to the new track in KC,Ks. but wasn't up to it after vacation' Our family was there, with cameras in hand and our goodies to get autographed' I got some great pics on the way home from Tn.and met many of the transporters. Wish we had the cb in the truck to visit all the way home, didn't'
I am glad I am not the only one here that like the young hot head!! LOL My Husband never was into racing until Home Depot sponsored a car...now he thinks he know everything about NASCAR! LOL WE have orange and white everywhere! I told him when we get some acreage i would plant a Home Depot garden...kinda like the emblem with all sorts of oprange and white flowers, viewable from about, like a 15- 20foot square bed!..I hate orange! LOL
Once the Intimadator was gone, I lost my interest in racing. I still watch once in awhile, to see Jr carrying on the tradition....
I met Ned Jarrett a few years back at the Richmond track. SO and I had box passes, and he held the door open for me as I was returning from the ladies room. Gotta love them southern men, polite and charming!
ANYONE BUT GORDON
I live and breathe NASCAR. Have been a season ticket holder at Michigan Speedway for 15 years also go to Daytona and Talledga every year..
I'm afraid NASCAR is ruining the sport by getting too greedy.
Those boys run 20 weeks in a row and now Mike Helton has them racing in New Hampshire the day after Thanksgiving. They are going to need their snow tires.... give me a break
They need to take the second race away from some of the smaller tracks like Bristol and Richmond instead trying to extend the season.
I'm with you,paulgrow....anybody but Gordon for sure. Daughter is a Gordon fan so we are always going back and forth with each other. I just like racin but not Gordon. Rest of the drivers....they are all ok.
Never have been to a Nascar race. Would like to see one someday tho. Have seen the time trials, but that's about it.
Going to a race is one of the things that I would still like to do someday. Just a dream from now.
Yeah CoCo that's something I would like to do too.DH has been to lots of them but its always just the guys going. No wifes allowed now can you imagine that. lol
My family has racing "in the blood" After WW2, and my brothers came home from the Marines, they got into promoting and racing in our neck of the woods...Beckley, WV. My sister and a friend talked a brother into sneaking them into the races by hiding them in the trunk of their car. When he opened the trunk to let them out imagine their embarrasment when they looked up at the crowd...FROM THE INFIELD! These same brothers, when just small, came home and told our Father, "Dad, some guy has a still up in our woods", to which Dad replied, "Keep your mouths shut, boys". My Nephew changed his user name to FM-RF (Ford Man_Rusty Fan), me? I have to stick with Ricky Rudd...from my area of Virginia...Jo
Road
Ricky still has time to bury Gordon for the title
aint' gonna happen hehehe!! But I do agree with you paul, they do need to cancel some of the second races at the smaller tracks.
Yeah Sis it's there guy time. lol A bunch of them go and just get like a couple of motel rooms and all pile in there. Not to sure I would want to go with that bunch anyway. But I did pretty much scream at him the way you just did the first time he went. He say's we will go togehter sometime. But a bunch of the wives they leave behind to go have about decided we need to plan our own trip and leave them at home.he he But just won't be the same I would loved to have seen #3 race.
Gals its called Male Bonding :)
I have been a long time fan of Bill Elliot. I am not much of a Gordon fan despite my part of the country being his home (Indiana) and I did get to see him in his last sprint car race (Winchester Raceway in Winchester, Indiana) before he went to NASCAR. He was racing guys twice his age with twice the experience and smoked them.
Anyone else at all bothered the way the races are televised by 3 networks occassionally on Saturdays even?
As long as a CHEVY wins -I dont care whos driving it!
