Lilies popping up all over.

I have been looking closely. Last week none of my trumpet lilies had broken ground yet, today most have started peeking thru.

My Silk Road lilies are coming up with really nice thick steams, hurry. They were new last year. All sorts of OT and AT hybrids really showing for the first time today. Believe me, I have been looking very closely. I think the warm days we had had really helped to push them up.

My asiatics had mostly started way before this. Some oriental lilies are starting up now too. All in all it should be a very good lily year.

Agreed! They are almost all breaking ground.

Had to dig a few to move them (that hadn't emerged yet) and couldn't believe the size of the bulbs. They have only been in the ground here for a year and check them out:

Wow, that bulb is sure a big one. I haven't had most of my lilies long enough to make monster bulbs.

I just put in so many new "fancy" ones last spring that I was and still am anxious to see that they all come up. I did get some blooms on those last year but too many just didn't bloom. So I am especially anxious for this year to see them all bloom. Plus it makes me feel glad that they will all do ok here.

I already went nuts and ordered a large list of more lilies for this spring. Last year I bought only afew from The Lily Garden but this year bought lots from the Lily Garden.

Places like B & D, The Lily Garden, Faraway Flowers (and Buggy Crazy in days gone by) do spoil us with their size!

My current count for this year is at 122 but I've ordered more.

I didn't count up how many bulbs I ordered. Just a very long list LOL!

I'm at a grand total of 417 lily bulbs other than Asiatics, which are much too numerous to count.

Daffoldils blooming in my teraces daylily garden. You can see lots of lilies coming up too on the next terrace and just about see all the green from the daylilies at the very top. In front of the lilies are the Agastaches but they just started growing so they are small and not noticeable. Later in the year they are very showey.

Are you mulching with straw Rita? I tried it for the first time last year, and everything did wonderfully with it. Once the plants are grown up you can't see it. It's cheap and works great.

I use straw alot for mulch. It is a fabulous mulch. I also use bagged fall leaves that people put out at the curb and I go and collect. Both are great mulches.
