I saved the seeds from a most delicious Casaba Melon that My husband and I consumed in 2007. I decided to try germinating them. I started four and three have sprouted - I was shocked! Now that I know they are viable I will send the rest to someone in California where they have the long hot summers to grow them to maturity. Of course it may not grow true to form if it was a hybrid, but fun to try it out in the back forty next to the sunflowers. On another note about nicking seeds - has anyone ever tried using an old emery board instead of sandpaper?
