air layering "Rangpur Lime"

Tavernier, FL

I have a 4 year old "Rangpur Lime" that is now flowering profusely here in my yard in Key Largo ( Florida Keys). It is about 5 feet tall and has a few very low branches that I plan to prune soon. Is it possible to "Air Layer" them? Does Citrus Air Layer at all, or will I need to do some kind of grafting. Is it the wrong time of year? I would appreciate any advise the members might have. I obviously don't know enough to try anything. I do have a great book that describes all grafting and air layering processes. I just don't know which, if any will work. Thanks in advance

You won't know until you try.
I would wait until it was done flowering. And expect it to take at least 3 months to see roots.
My navel orange has some suckers coming from the bottom of the trunk. They are still green and I'll wait to see some wood grain before I do it.
It's also a grafted tree, so are the air-layered branches going to turn out like your fruited tree or the original tree that was grafted. I'd like to know that one for myself.

I had to pot up a Tangelo and a piece of the root was left. This is what popped up. I potted that plant and left another piece of root, maybe another one will come up.
