These all are destined for my Store manager, Donn.
He is getting 6 tomatoes (2 of each), 6 Daturas (3 of each), a 6-pak of Italian Basil and a small cell-pak of red Coreopsis.
Will also give him some Shasta daisies I just divided today and some Canna roots. I have too many by now....
I am taking extra care of his plants--as I know he is NOT really a gardener---yet......and has very little time to attend to all this. After all--he has a difficult store to run.......with all the stress and problems that come along with it.....
We ALL love him to death ---He really cares for each and every one of us. A GREAT manager!!!!!! The BEST we have ever had!
When he has to leave (they shift them around every 2 yrs. or so), we will all cry and mourn his "passing"......:o(
Seed Starting in MA (Part 2)
These are perennial Salvia seedlings---originally from Brent at hart's Swap--what? 3 years ago?
They grow so easily from seed and bloom the same season.
edited to say----as you can see, the White Cone Flower has not even come up. Not having much luck with the purple one either.....I think I have 2 seedlings that came up---and they are so-so!
Perhaps the seeds i collected at HD were not all that fertile? Must concentrate on the seeds attached to the flower prtals--and not bother with the rest.....

This is a pot by my shed that gets AM light only....
The plant you see at all 4 corners is a Bee balm I got at last years Plant Swap. Funny--how it spread out--and now is ONLY at the 4 corners of the pot.
In the middle--I planted my 4 Hyacinth Bean seedlings....They are HUGE by now! The trellis is not all that high--but I put in some taller bamboo stakes to help out....
These are my Tomatillos-----
WAAAAY too tall--compared to all the others......
I have never grown these before---this will be all new.
I planted 2 of them in a really big pot. That leaves ONE up for grabs, but I don't think it will hold out until the Swap....
Someone at work will be happy to have them.....
And--as I end all this "slide show"----The sun is back out----the wind is gone---and the rain has stopped......
Exactly 1/2 hr. has passed......DAH!
Gita
Gita, on several Tomatillos sites that I visited they are saying that they are not self-pollinators. You need to be grown 2 to 3 plants to produce fruit. Google, growing Tomatillos, to check this out.
Just don't want anyone to be disappointed.
Thanks, lady---
Well! Since I planted 2 in the same pot--that may help.
I don't really like eating them all that much. They are kind of "blah" in flavor.....
Susan at work brings me a few now and then. She is forever on Atkins--and eats these with her other foods.
I took the seeds from the Tomatillos she gave me.....
Like i said--I have NO clue about these....am just trying it out.....

looking great Gita
