Storing Harvested Seeds-Containers??

Greenlawn, NY(Zone 6B)

I have just harvested my first flower seeds and have greater appreciation for those of you who do this. It is tedious and requires good fine motor coordination. I was afraid I'd sneeze and there would go all my efforts!!
Thanks to all of you who have sent me seeds for SASE--I appreciate them even more now.

Wondering if I can store seeds in empty pill bottles--know they need to be clean and dry. Of course I would wash and dry the containers well. I am talking about the containers
you receive prescriptions or vitamins in. Does anyone use them for this purpose?

Thanks for your help. This is a terrific site.

I don't see any problem storing that way' I've known some to use the flim containers also'

Those are safe and fine-so long as you are sure the seeds are dry. I have found that once you save tons of seeds they are too bulky. LOL Mine are now in those small paper coin envelopes, then each type is in ziploc bags. The ziploc bags are then alphabetized by perennials, annuals and veggies. I have them stored in a wood chest in the basement. Plastic garment containers worked once the shoe boxes got too small, but now I am on to the chest. Gee gads, I think I better get rid of some seeds. :)

We now have a great Seed Trading Primer, helps' Check it out'
