That is amazing there nut777! WOW.... you ended up with buckets full and they are huge, Congratulations....now the wait for summer...;) I am going to look up paeonifolllius, sauromatums, I know konacs but not the others.

We will have to live vicariously thru Tropicbreeze, since he is getting into summer..

Already had the water tested, but probably most of the fertilizers come from the fields...sadly. They say it is safe to drink if you are not pregant or a child under a certain age....so what that means is it isn't good to drink...rofl. Probably true about most cities because there is more fertilizers used on lawns than farm fields....

way to go happgarden!!! :)
i dont think konjac smells all that bad..mmm..does that say something
about me??? LOL :)
i guess if ya had dozens..or 100s in bloom at same time it could be a bit ripe..
i have 7 konjac in full bloom now.. some getting close..
weve had a very "typical" spring here.. spells of warm days, then wind, and chilly (not cold)
nites.. lettuce is liking it..:)
i have been taking out some of my tropicals putting them in sun on nice days..
now im beginning to gather ingredients for potting mix..for later.. mayish.. when everything
gets potted up and goes outside to grow!!
keep us posted happgarden on how yours do during the growing season...

I will, I have Stapelia gigantea looks like a star fish, getting ready to bloom for the first time. Some say it smells but it isn't open yet either. Our spring is strange, we hit 70 one day and snow the next...odd.

So did I read correctly since the Voodoo Lily is blooming it won't put up a leaf?

Poughkeepsie, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice growing Happ! Congrats! I have 1 myself growing and the others haven't started to wake yet.

hey to u tommy!!
voodoo lily..aka amorphophallus..many species..:) seems most common one
grown is konjac.. when corms get to maturity..they will flower..again..depending on
the species.. after flowering..they will then go into vegetative stage..thats when the
leaf pops up.. this is what restores the corm..hopefully making a larger corm..for next yr..
with konjac..mine flower around this time of yr..mid march.. (they are all of course inside)
flower lasts for maybe a week.. then starts to wilt..that can take anywhere from several weeks
to a month +.. also depending on if you pollinate the flower.. i dont anymore.. i did 1st yr i grew them..just for fun..got alot of berries "seed" .. but it slows down time for flower petiole to wilt..
which for me.. delayed time for leaf petiole to come up.. and for me..my desire is to get larger
corms..
i keep my konjac in probably more sun than i should.. they dont suffer ..but.. they are heavy
feeders..i find.. they go till 1st moderate hard frost here.. mid oct for me..
then its unpot.and see how i did..:) like christmas in oct.. lol

Thank you thank you for the info. I wasn't sure how long it would last or if I would get a leaf. I do love the looks of the leaf so much. Mine are in a solar room, complete glass on 3 sides just not on the top. So all winter they get lots of sun but they go dormant in the fall anyway.

Provo, UT(Zone 5a)

happ..im sure your amorphs are lovin it in your sun room..:)
i like the foliage as well..as much as the bloom..
the blooms dont last long..so i take many pics ..
i kept several of my largest titanums in front ..i got alot of comments..
"wow, what kind of palm tree is that?" :) hehehee
did have a college botany student stop..and she knew what it was..it was fun to
talk plants.. :)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Well I live in the middle of no where so no one to talk about plants with.... once a year I drag the master gardeners over here..rofl.
