Thanks for the head's up on that. Every time I go to Costco, I eye those and think what a great light set up they'd make....guess I'll wait till after the recall. Or move onto Plan B which is to make the shelves myself out of wood!

I think the ones they carry now are ok... purchase date ended in January

What is the size of your shelving unit (s)? And the shoplites - 4'?

I am trying to get a setup and have 2 and 3' wide shelves in the basement, but the shop lites are 4's wide, usually...trying the measurements, so maybe DH can help me...I was hoping for the kind to put on chains, so they can be close to the seedlings...

I purchased my "metro rack" 5 shelf system at Lowe's; the shelves are wire mesh, better support than the one you have pictured. It's perfect for 2 shop light fixtures per shelf and seedling heat mats fit perfectly on the shelf bottom. The lights can be adjusted up or down from their chains hooked on the shelf above.
The top shelf is used for storage of light weight items and the bottom shelf heavy items to keep it balanced.

I think I have the same one you do, buster. You can put the trays in the other direction, or fit two trays -one in front of the other- on the shelves, so it'll fit quite a lot of trays.
I haven't had any problems with it being unstable.
