I bought my Canon 100mm Macro lens back in December and I am thrilled to finally get to use it for the reason I got it.

I think this is some kind of fly, but what kind is it?

This appears to be a flesh fly (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/ycd48zf for an example.
