I know that this has been asked and answered but here I go again:lol: Can they be transplanted outside? It's not getting enought sun inside and she doesn't have anywhere that it could get enough while inside. I thought it could but it may take a season or so to bloom again while it became acclimated to being outside and in the ground.
Thanks for any answers or advice:)
Peace Lily question for a friend....
I don't think anyone, including me, knows what you're talking about. A Peace Lily is a houseplant (Spathiphyllum sp., not a true lily) that does well in low light inside the house. obviously you don't meant that. Maybe you can post a pic for identification?
good advise

dmac,
Are you referring to the houseplant Peace LIly, spathiphyllum?
If so they can only be grown outdoors in tropical areas, zones 10 and 11.
Here's some growing info on them. Personally I have trouble getting them to rebloom, and we have quite a bit of light in the house. When they haven't bloomed for a long time, I move them to a south facing window for awhile. I don't know any reason they couldn't be taken outside in the summer and put in an area that gets bright, but filtered sun. That might re energize them enough to bloom. You might get some buggies this way, though.

If this isn't the plant you're looking for info about, please let us know.
no peace here either LOL
Thank you pollyk. I'm not a houseplant person and neither is my friend and she is definitely not into gardening--so knowing now that it is a houseplant is helpful. I'll be sure to let her know about your advice.
Thanks!
I put my peace lily out doors last summer. The bugs caused alot of damage to the leaves. But, the peace lily started blooming about three months ago and is still blooming now. I placed it in filtered sun.
I'll let my friend know that info too. I'm not sure how committed she is to the plant--may want to give planting out a try. I've been giving her bulbs and the odd plant for a couple years now trying to get her into gardening a little:lol: The lily is blooming right now so maybe she'll decide what to try by the time it gets done flowering.
Thanks all.
Hmmm... I wonder if there are different kinds of Peace lilies ~ mine blooms almost continuously.
She ended up with this one after a relative passed away last year. It was in bloom when she got it, she managed to keep it going and its blooming now. I don't know if it bloomed at any other point during the year as she never talked about it--not a plant person. She only asked for my advice now because it looks like its leaves are yellowing and she thought it wasn't getting enough sun (no good sunny windows at her place).
I'll just share the info and let her decide what to do:)
