I was removing some old pots from the balcony when I saw this bugger had set up shop in one of them. After searching through the great googlesphere I was unable to figure out its species. I tried using an online key to figure out where it hails from but unfortunately I lack the the technical jargon to even get past step 1. If anyone knows Fang's (he's just that endearing) species epithet, I would greatly appreciate it.

This spider is a hacklemesh weaver (family Amaurobiidae) in the genus Callobius; possibly Callobius severus - see http://tinyurl.com/yechlz8 for an example. They are harmless to humans.
