Very pretty. The serrated edges are "sharp" (pun intended) - I really like them . -Jan

ChuLin - the way the white varigation outlines the serraded leaf edges really makes this plant - the blooms are pretty too, but it just wouldn't be as nice without the leaf accent. thanks for sharing that picture...its a beautiful plant!

I just love cutie Mrsbonnie! Lavender, gets me everytime!

Bonnie,
Your plants always look great.It looks like you are wicking Streps.How do you keep them from staying too wet?
Lynn

HI;
i use a very light mix. probably 65% pearlite.Also i fill the bottom of the pot with about 1/4 in. pearlite so they never sit in water. works fine, occasionally i will have one get to wet. but it works for me.

Thanks Bonnie.I have tried it with 50 percent perlite and #24 and #16 Mason twine,but it still seemed to keep them a little wet.Do you use Promix as your base?

This strips of nylon pantyhose works best for wicking. Dosn't disintegrate.

ChuLin your AV is just gorgeous I agree with the others that how the variegation on the leaves outlines the serrated edges really makes the difference and shoudl definitely be a show winner if you do any showing of your AVs. I would love to have a couple leaves from her, but alas I fear I have nothing to offer in return, but may have something in the near future.

Either way, I hope to see more of her in the future :)

btw, I use very small pebbles mixed into my potting soil for my AVs and it works wonderfully. I do a 50% Soil and 50% beach sand mixture (I don't know why they call it beach sand when it's tiny little stones). On my Soil Mixture I use about 65% Organic Seed Starting Jiffy Mix and the rest just regular potting soil minus perlite and my AVs seem to absolutely love it. I've noticed that the having the Organic Seed Starting Jiffy Mix as the bigger portion of the soil as well as having the pebbles mixed in allows for better drainage of excess water. I also have 2 of my AVs in 5" Terra-Cotta Clay pots so I am very careful as to how much I water my AVs since I know that the clay pots hold moisture and do not want to end up over watering them. Here's a picture of what the "beach sand" I use looks like. To give you size perspective of the pebbles, the rings in the picture are the underside of my wedding band and engagement ring the total width of them together is 3/8 of an inch.

SilverTigress; thanks for the compliments on Sassy Wins. I am sorry but I don't take leaves off my (few) plants and send them; have no idea how to do that. Anyhooooo, I was a little confused by one of your comments about clay pots. Its my experience that clay pots as you pictured dry out faster than glazed ceramic or plastic pots. I have all my begonias and violets in either glazed or plastic pots, and my cactus & succulents in unglazed clay pots. ChuLin
