I would love to have a couple leaves from her, but alas I fear I have nothing to offer in return, but may have something in the near future. Either way, I hope to see more of her in the future :) btw, I use very small pebbles mixed into my potting soil for my AVs and it works wonderfully. I do a 50% Soil and 50% beach sand mixture (I don't know why they call it beach sand when it's tiny little stones). On my Soil Mixture I use about 65% Organic Seed Starting Jiffy Mix and the rest just regular potting soil minus perlite and my AVs seem to absolutely love it. I've noticed that the having the Organic Seed Starting Jiffy Mix as the bigger portion of the soil as well as having the pebbles mixed in allows for better drainage of excess water. I also have 2 of my AVs in 5" Terra-Cotta Clay pots so I am very careful as to how much I water my AVs since I know that the clay pots hold moisture and do not want to end up over watering them. Here's a picture of what the "beach sand" I use looks like. To give you size perspective of the pebbles, the rings in the picture are the underside of my wedding band and engagement ring the total width of them together is 3/8 of an inch. |
