Does anyone have an easy way to remove the"fluff" from seeds you harvest?
I just harvested some Milkweed and want to remove the "fluff"
Paul
Does anyone know?
If you will put them in a paper bag, close it and shake it vigerously, the ones that are completely dry will fall to the bottom of the sack, minus the "fluff". The others will do so as they become very dry.
Another way pariculary for Anemone which is covered in fluff is put in a bag with sime sand and rub lightly with both hands
Paul,
With milkweeds it's easier to get the seeds before the pods "Fluff Out". Collect them just as they split or right before. I added some pictures to the database on how the seeds can be removed without getting the fluff - http://davesgarden.com/plants/go/539.html Milkweed fluff is the worst!
