This likely is one of the geometers known as twig mimics from their habit of extending themselves rigidly from twigs, branches, etc. - see http://tinyurl.com/nsutln for some examples. It will take someone more expert on this group than I am to come up with a specific i.d. for it.

I wonder if my specimen is withered, there is nothing for it to eat yet.
