Spring!! Eggs in nest!!

San Angelo, TX(Zone 7b)

City_Sylvia- Those are just fake flowers. It's a mailbox on the carport wall, guessing that's where the mail was delivered at one time. I put fake flowers in it to make it look "pretty". Last Spring only one bird tried in that spot, something got the eggs and cracked them? This is the first year they have followed through, and already 2 batch of eggs have made that their first home. Out of 5 eggs the first time, only one made it. A few days later, I have a whole new batch of eggs to watch. I don't touch them or the area where they are. I was always told that if you touch the eggs or babies that the mother won't come back?! Maybe that's what your grandmother was talking about? What picture did you like so much I should get published?(tell me where and I will)

Ceejaytown- Maybe it's another mama bird that was watching to "take over" the nest? I'm anxious to see how many make it this time. I hope they all do, although I can't see 5 babies in that small nest. The last one took up the entire nest before it flew off.

I was speaking of the bird's nest where you placed the flowers.:)

Actually the flowers were there first. The birds found them and decided to make them a nest.
the eggs change color as time goes by. Some of the eggs are starting to look brownish inside. I'm guessing it's the baby forming. I think in about 4-6 days these will start hatching.
I hope more than one makes it from this batch

OMG.....so small and fuzzy!

Only two have hatched so far. One fell out of the nest and died, so only one is left so far.

nature is cruel sometimes ...sigh...

Here's a picture of the baby I took this morning. One of the babies fell out of the nest? Have no idea how that happened.
The other 3 eggs still haven't hatched. I guess only one out of five will make it this time also:(

His fuzz is almost gone.....so cute.

What is this yellow "pocket" on it? It almost looks like poo-poo. Do babies collect their poop?

That is its crop, part of a bird's digestive system.

They grow SO fast!

Heck ya, I'll say. I'm guessing it will be gone tomorrow or the next day. When I peek in the nest, it ducks down. Cute

He flew away right after I took this picture on the 20th.
There is still 2 eggs unhatched in the nest. I wonder why they didn't hatch?
