What is in full bloom in your yard now? From 3-15 to 3-31-10

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

I was just out in the courtyard and found my trillium that had four stalks last year, has seven now and is showing buds.

Ooh, from four to seven. That's good to know. It sounds happy.

Need some help on this one -- it's part of my shrub border which I did not keep track of very well. Flowers first, then leaves, spicy fragrance.

Bonehead - pink budded shrub is Viburnum - could be juddi or carlesii. One of those fragrances that is easy to breathe deeply.

My garden is rain-battered. :(

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Likewise.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

It's very cold here, but almost sunny - very bright at least. I have limbs to clean up from the yard today.

Beautiful photos Sharon.

A bleeding heart opened. Sorry about the battering reain. It has been cloudy today. The predicted 80 temp didn't pan out. It's 59 now. HMMMMM how'd they get that one so wrong?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

59 is much better, Jan. I think these temperature swings from too warm in the daytime to bitter cold at night have been hard on the plants . . .

I am not exactly sure where the last week went, but am trying to play a little catch up this morning.

Jan, I am glad that you have finally seen spring, and it astounds me how quickly you are catching up to us now that the snow is gone!

And speaking of gone..... where did our glorious spring go? Fortunately, we got a break from the wind and rain and yuck yesterday morning long enough for us to take the "big" walk through our gardens, which I hadn't seen in a week. I can't believe how quickly things change this time of year!

Since we spend the weekend in EWA last weekend, I will give an update for what was blooming there. Like Jan's world, the east side is catching up to us fairly quickly now. Full bloom there last weekend were daffodills and hyacinth, the apricot trees, flowering quince, and forsythia (sorry Laurie...and Jnette...if your climate is close to that of Royal City/Othello, you should be able to grow it well.... we saw just some stunning displays). The weeping flowering cherries were in full glory in Othello proper, and the bleeding hearts will be in full bloom this weekend. Early tulips were starting to show color as well.

This picture is of one of the weeping cherries that was planted in front of the Othello high school were we attended the Sandhill Crane festival last weekend.

And now.......time to move into April! And keep remembering..... April showers (and hail and snow and wind and cold.....) bring May flowers!
