I wish I could tell you how disappointed I am.
Trying not to be but I really am.
I was SO hoping to have a heuschkeliana.
Why can't EA mark their plants correctly? It wasn't even a HOYA!!!! GRRRR
Kim
Do You Know Who I Might Be?
I'm holding out for flowers Kim. You have to keep it 'til it blooms. I'm still not buying the Dischidia bit :)))
How I wish you were right 3 gardeners but I really don't think so.
I will pay your $5.00 for you :(
Kim
s'ok Kim.
That's the chance I took!!
It's only $5 Canadian remember ; )
I'm still thinking Dischidia. EA sells this one that looks similar to yours, but it's hard to tell from their photo when you can't see a close up: http://www.exoticangel.com/Varieties/ShowProductDetails.aspx?productid=403 It might be D. nummalaria: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/54700/
I have D. ruscifolia (a/k/a D. "Million Hearts) that's an EA plant and I love this one! The blooms are teeny tiny and there's no fragrance but it's so pretty when in full bloom. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/260607/
I will have to go search my back porch and see if my H. heuschkeliana made it through the winter, so many were lost to the horrible cold.
Thank you Lin my friend but I do believe it to be the d. oiantha as it is just SO similar.
I can't tell you how disappointed I am.
Beyond definition *lol*
I am going to let it bloom and then..........who knows. Give it away I guess.
Kim
I found my heuschkeliana ... what's left of it. It had lots of dead vines that I snipped back, hopefully I will be able to save the plant. I'm going to check it thoroughly tomorrow and maybe un-pot it to check the roots. The foliage really does look like your plant but I noticed the stem/vine part of yours looks green where mine is more woody. I guess as everyone always says, blooms will tell for sure. If it is D. oiantha, the blooms sure are cute! http://www.flickr.com/groups/dischidia/
Here's a close up of the foliage on my H. heuschkeliana
Yeah Lin, your leaves don't seem to have the dreaded "notch" in them. Once it blooms and proves to be a dischidia would you like me to send it to you? Really. I don't want it if it is. I just don't have the space or the desire to grow it if it proves to be a dischidia. I will at least give it a chance to bloom. I parted with my heuschkeliana when I parted with all of my plants and I have a baby yellow heuschkeliana coming but not the pink and who knows how big the yellow one will be but I want the window space this plant is in for other things other than a dischidia. You have that beautiful pool room you could hang it in if you want it; it's yours once it blooms.
Kim
Kim, you are so sweet but no thanks. I am not a big Dischidia fan either and I'm trying to decide about replacing lots of plants I lost over the winter. I've been saying for years that I need to downsize and this may be the perfect time to begin the process. ^_^
My pink hueschkeliana came from you in a trade in 2008. If this one survives I will gladly send cuttings! I rec'd a cutting of the yellow last year in trade and after rooting it, I put it in with the pink one ... don't know if it's one of the dead part I trimmed back tonight or not. I guess if it ever blooms again I will find out, LOL.
Are you kidding me Lin, you keep records that far back?
That is just 2 funny! OMG you just totally amazed me my friend :)
There is a lady at work I think that will adopt this plant once it blooms and proves not to be a hoya.
Please don't cut your plant up; I will find a plant of the pink heuschkeliana when I'm ready for it :)
Thank you so much for the offer though ;)
((((( HUGS )))))
Kim
so.......'cough'..............$5...???????
:))
hehehe...tell me where to send it :)))
Wow, this is the first time I've been on here today - I had a brainstorm at work today and got my cummingiana down to compare it to the pictures and log on to find all this activity! So its not a hoya after all; but it sure has beautiful leaves! Glad you were able to ID it and sorry to hear its not what you wanted. But happy to hear you will likely get what you want. We always do, you know...eventually...
8-)
