Hey y'all,
how has everyone been? what's new? It's been busy here...obviously...I haven't gotten to talk to y'all in forever. I miss everyone & I'm wondering how everyone is doing??
Things are good here. I just started working at a local greenhouse. I LOVE it. It's the first job I've ever had that I actually liked. The day just flies by. Payday is going to be hard...I mean to leave with any money in my pocket. I already have my eye on about 100 things I want to take home, and it's even harder when it's you that planted them bcuz then you feel like they are your babies. Only YOU guys would understand that, LOL! I've been getting extra hours so that's good for the flower budget.
This week I think we planted 157 hanging baskets (actually 3 days)...I've lost count. My hand was in most of them...what my hand wasn't in my nose was, lol. And these are just the annuals. *sigh*
After seeing the wonderful plants in the gh, it's amazing to me that anyone can grow things at home...or at least that I could. The root systems just blow me away...nothing is root bound, but in just the absolute *perfect* state to be transplanted. This gh is well known for having very good, healthy stuff. I'll learn a lot there.
So, that's what I'm up to. How about all of you? Fill me in. Hopefully I'll be back before next weekend to check in on y'all.
Take care :)
Heather
Dropping by to say Hello :)
What a job..,.I would probably want one of everything...but looking at the mud and lack of space to grow..might just take ideas for one pot...maybe a hanging basket.
We have 50s' this week..but then back to 40s'. May sneak a bit of weeding from the edges so that I don't compact the soil. OR..I could pick up a winters worth of dog doodoo :)
I sounds like you have a great job. I love the smell inside a GH.
It's been sort of warm here this week and I did a quick walk around the yard to look at all the work to be done. YIKES! Lots of mud and, of course, doggy doodoo too. He even pooped on the patio so he wouldn't get his behind wet.
It's supposed to be 60 by the end of the week and then drop to 30's and snow by Sunday. Old man winter is being a butthead.
Old Man Winter is being a butthead. It was supposed to be 70's this weekend, now they are calling for freezing rain. What happened???
This morning when I left for work DBF said to bring home something to start some landscaping...he mentioned something about trees. I brought home a Tree Peony. Close enough, right? I did pick his favorite color (burgundy) instead of the pretty lavendar and pink one I had my eye on.
I did put up a fragrant hanging basket for myself. I just couldn't resist it any longer. 'Opal Innocence' Nemsis, Alyssum 'Carpet of Snow' and Heliotrope (I can't remember the variety) and a few other things mixed in. It smells like I'd imagine Heaven must smell.
The *bad* thing is that my boss started a running tab for me. I have to pay by Nov. and we get a 25% discount. Just shoot me now...it'd be less painful come Nov...and maybe cheaper too!
