CLOSED: Unidentified Brown Spiders invading my house! Help!

Windsor Mill, MD

I keep finding these brown spiders in my house. They like to crawl on the clothes and blankets I store against my wall in my frequently used living room. I'm worried they might be poisonous. Please help me to identify them so I can figure out if they are safe to relocate outside, keep inside (if they eat poisonous spiders) or eradicate them (if they are dangerous to my family)

Thanks for your help!

Oh, I forgot...they are around the size of a quarter.

I cannot be certain, but this may be one of the hacklemesh weavers in the family Amaurobiidae; these often are found indoors - see http://tinyurl.com/yf7x9zy for an example. They are not dangerous to humans. Wolf spiders (family Lycosidae) also are very common home 'invaders'; they likewise pose no threat to humans (their bite can be painful, but is not dangerous. BTW, with the exception of one very small family (Uloboridae), all spiders possess venom glands, but only a very few species are truly dangerous to humans.

suunto, thank you so much. I am quite relieved. I was worried that they might be recluse spiders, but now that I know for certain they are not I will safely give them a new home outside.
