As you may know, I recently got a new camera, a Canon 1D Mark IV, and so far I like it a lot. But it so happens that I am very involved with a remodeling project so the only time I am able to try it out is early in the morning when the sun is not the best. Nonetheless, here are a few shots of my bluebirds taken with the new camera.
Trying out my new camera
Hi Dave, Glad your having at least a little time to play with the new camera.
The females are so beautiful and the males handsome in these wonderful shots!
Looks like the camera is working fine. Great pics, as usual. I'm just using my little Nikon Coolpix. I gave my more expensive camera equipment to some car thieves along with a nice truck. I just haven't bought anything back. The Coolpix doesn't catch as much detail, but it's easy to always have with you.
Ouch! Red, that must hurt, especially the truck. :-) Sometimes a P&S comes in real handy.
Yes I am liking this camera very well. I need to get back to work but I will post a few that I took just a few minutes ago. I eventually will go through the shots I have taken in the past few days and add some of them to this thread but right now I have to start laying some tile.
Here is a shot where I tried to get both birds in focus. I finally opened the f-stop up to f/32 and still they are a bit soft
I agree with pelle...I just think the females are so pretty with their subtle colors. But there is nothing like a bright male to get ones attention. Beautiful Dave!
Dave, absolutely wonderful bluebird shots. Glad you are liking you new camera. also glad we all can profit from it too. No bluebirds yet in my yard. Got really cold early this morning 19 degrees, but anyway the sun is shining.
Donna
Congratulations on your new camera, Dave. I'm sure that you will enjoy it immensely. Looking forward to more exceptional photography.
I think you're much too critical on yourself when you say a photo may be too "soft". Each one is incredible and I'm with the others, I think the females are every bit as beautiful as the males.
Were you using the 400mm lens for these photos?
Dave said: "This is what I try for every time". That's an excellent shot!
All of them are wonderful!
Super shots as usual Dave!!
Thanks Nanny. This is the same bird, an instant later. This is what I try for every time.
Exquisite!!! Look at all those colors just popping.....WOW!!!! THANK YOU
Really excellent shots Dave! Your Bluebirds are so gorgeous!!
WOW, Dave....fabulous shots of your BB. While your new camera can take some of the credit, it is your skill that really stands out. Thanks so much for posting!!
Red....bummer about your truck. :(
Thanks for answering my question Dave. These new photos are all so beautiful. I love the one where she is
bumped off the perch. And the second one from the end is just spectacular, well, they all are!!
