Little H. wayettii's first flowers opened this morning. They have a very light scent so far; can't wait for this evening to see if its stronger.
March Flowers
Lovely, TB....how is the fragrance?
Unsurprisingly, it's the same as the wild ones. A very sweet 'dusty' fragrance. Or talc as you described it. Unfortunately when I get back I doubt it'll look like that. But I did notice one of the cuttings (from late last year) has a new peduncle forming. As you can see from the photo it's still very small. I checked out the other cuttings but nothing. Still, it's a good response so soon after setting it all up.
TB...your 'Kapit' Borneo leaf is so much darker than mine...will take a photo today to compare...
Very cool Dom!!
Scented?
Holy crap! That's A LOT of buds for that little plant! Wow! Very cool!
Kelly
That's amazing really. I don't get that many blooms on my tallest Hoya which goes a few metres up a tree and also hangs back down again.
That is an incredible shot - so many blooms for a small plant. My H pachyclada used to grow slowly, but now it grows almost too quickly. It is also much more elongated than yours; I think it needs more intense light than I am able to give.

Beautiful! Dom, you should add that photo to Plant Files: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/57788/
Brought this plant into the house tonight and the ginger scent has permeated the whole house. Ive just tasted the nectar and it tasted exactly as it smells.....you know how sometimes a taste reminds you of a smell, and vice versa?.... This one hits the spot both ways ( and if you hear no more from me.....it was poisonous....:))
I think I'm gonna hafta get that one too...
Dom, if you're worried about the possible poisonous-ness, just post your phone number here and I'm sure we could arrange to have one of us call you every 15 minutes or so until you figure you're safe :)))
Still alive.:))
That's good :))
Haven't heard anything for a while. Are you still with us?
The earlier flower on the H. australis ssp rupicola had finished by the time I returned home. But close look showed the peduncle was busy pushing out a new set of buds. And in addition to that, 3 of the cuttings have produced peduncles. Looks like I'll be having a mass flowering before the first year is over.
Beautiful, Dee!
When I look at the flower close up it doesn't look like the other lacunosa that I have. I thought the blooms were basically the same with a little variance in color. This looks different kinda like the shape of cystiantha but not as big. Any ideas if this is something different or am I just out in left field with this?
Appreicate any suggestions/advise.
Thanks,
Dee....pretty sure it is H. lacunosa...the corollas simply haven't recurved all the way back.
Oh, ok. I thought it was open all the way, gonna have to watch it.
Thanks,
Dee
propmaker, Wow your H pachyclada is absolutely stunning! I have a small cutting of this variety and I sure hope mine gives me the flowers yours has! AWESOME!!
And DeeinFL that lacunosa is BEAUTIFUL!! Where did you get that Variety? I was hoping at some point I could get a lacunosa like that one from the Liddle order - hopefully (if they have one this year to Canada) But I am not sure if they carry that variety. Anyways LOVELY!
I had a variagaed multiflora many years ago. The leaves are really nice
hey there Golden,
I received "Speckled lacunosa" in a trade last summer. She doesn't grow very fast but I think she is worth the wait. I have the Liddle catelog and the only one that looks anything like mine in the description is "dark green white flecked slightly lacunose leaf,15 dull yellow flowers, reflexed corona. $7.00" or "lacunosa var. lacunosa dark green leaf with light green splashes, small white perfumed flowers. $7.00".
Dom, I love your H pachyclada especially all those buds. Mine looks longer than your, maybe be picture perception, but not even 1 hint of a bud. Maybe the summertime.
Dee
Dee mine always flowers early Spring, and it is quite 'stocky'....Its grown in strong indirect light. I think less light elongates the gowth. The peduncles seem to come from no where..they are very fat and seem to sprout very quickly
I can only remember it by: "H. blastednazi"
Heh heh................
and H tjadamalangensis ? Dare I ask?
AH...the 'Chad'....
Wow, Beautiful!
Since it's April you should start a new thread for April blooms with that picture! I have buds on H. australis ssp. tenuipes (I think) with buds and I'm looking forward to seeing hoya blooms again!
