Please could someone assist in identifying this arachnid (I assume it is one and would be shocked if it wasn't).

To me, the overall habitus of this spider does not resemble a tunnelweb spider (especially its apparent lack of visibly long spinnerets) but looks more like a wolf spider (family Lycosidae) , of which there reportedly are some 27 species native to New Zealand. sorry I was right off, looked too quick!! thought I saw a hard thorax....
I had not known there were 27 species native too here. Thanks for the info suunto.
