Oh there is a BIG stink in Jersey right now about the teacher's union....whoeee, fun to watch. They were going thru the salaries of the admin in my township on the radio....the superintendent makes more than the governor!!!
I went to a pampered chef party and only me and 2 others weren't teachers, oh my were they complaining...oh poor babies, you may actually have to pay into your own pensions!!!! Horrors!!
Then they were talking about this sick pool that they have...anyone ever heard of it??? YOu join in the beginning of the year if you want and put a sick day into the pool for people to use if they need more than their allocated 45 days of sick time!!!!!! HELLO!!!!! Anyone else out there get 45 SICK DAYS!!!!! Full pay!!! The sick bank, if needed, you can take 150 days!!!! at full pay.
Money Matters
We get 6 unpaid sick days at work. That's it, better hope you're not sick much.
Is this Money Matters going to become political or can we still just talk about our personal money issues and solutions?
Good question, can one exist without the other? Considering money matters are directly influenced by politics, even world crisis/ conflicts can one be separate from the other?
The DOW exchange was influenced today by the sinking of the US ship off the coast of Korea, if it had been a friendly country it would not have impacted significantly, but the prospect of increased tensions may have influenced banking which crosses any borders at the speed of light.
I would think one can be explored w/o reference to the other but what would not be said would be louder than what is said... ☺
Everyone needs to join the herd and buy an iPad!!! (Being a stockholder has nothing to do with that. ^_^)
Mac products are like candy!
Great for artists...
Yup!
Wow - oil and gasoline prices are going through the roof and you don't hear anything about it. Gas prices have risen 50% in the past year and crude prices have almost tripled, and are now near 87 a barrel. This is the fastest rise ever. Where is the outrage???
with the way the prices keep going up and down, I think everyone has gotten tired of squaking about it.
But they yelled a lot more a few years ago when it went up way more gradually - and during an economic boom. It's unprecedented to have them at these levels coming out of a recession. Not good news.
I think it's good, the more it costs per gallon the more people will be hesitant to drive just for a doz bagels and the less people on the road, sooner or later it's going to hit them where it hurts... their pocket. A little bit of self discipline never hurt anyone. I wouldn't mind if it went up to $4.50/gal overnight, ~ weed out some of the frivolous, brain dead drivers out there who don't know how to drive anyways...
- honestly, I don't know how some people got their license in the first place! lol!
Maybe to keep brain dead people off the road but,
Higher heating
Food and consumer goods - rises
Your mailing stamps could hit a buck
Electric, I probably wouldnt run the AC when needed
Plane fares - I dont care about.
etc, etc, etc
EDITED TO SAY
And the rising cost of plants to keep green houses going!

I think it's inevitable, I remember as a kid the gas was something like $1.07/ gallon and now its $2.98.998 (lol). - That's a 300% raise in a relatively short amount of time! The subway fare was 35¢ now it's $2.50! - and stamps!... they raise the price of a stamp up so often I'm never sure of how much a first class stamp is anymore! I cant imagine the price of gas not continuing to go up. Maybe if people thought twice about hopping in the car for every little 'whim' our demand for oil would decrease. ☺!
do not agree wc - the cost of fuel will hurt the entire economy - and we will soon be hearing about record profits at exxon and the rest of them - good thing i still have my energy mutual fund!
Yes - very bad news for the economy and any recovery. High energy costs were a major factor in the recession. People forget that. Bad for business and individuals - another expense.
does the UK have oil reserves?
They'll come a day when we'll look back on 3 bucks a gallon and think of it as a bargain!
(lol!)
That's their own doing - it's mostly tax.
I'm screaming anyway, it just jumped at the pump from 2.69 this am to 2.85 by 11am! That's just nuts! Everyone seems to forget that the gas prices started the economic nonsence.
Yes, I did say that.
The Canadian dollar has just about reached parity with the US dollar.
The jobs report last week was not good news, despite the spin given by some. 50K, or roughly one third of the jobs were temporary census jobs. Another 40K were temporary jobs.
More people are on unemployment long-term since WW2.
I read that people are turning to plastic surgery to get an edge on job interviews. How do they pay for it?!!
have not considered plastic surgury:)
Perhaps breast enhancement??
i like my wife the way she is
...everybody wants to look like Tiger Woods.
Who pays all the fed income taxes:

I know someone who got plastic surgery to get a leg up in employment. Don't know if it worked or not... how would you know?
Leg surgery??
Har har.
The thread's getting a little long.
I know. I'll start a new one soon. First I have to collect money...
LOL!!
Two things that article left out. The top 1% of income earners pay over 40% of the taxes and that has been rising steadily. With all the screaming about rich people paying 'their fair share', you never hear that. More importantly, it left out the important fact that many, if not most, small businesses file as individuals. Therefore any tax that is aimed at 'rich people' hits small businesses, which account for about 80% of job growth.
Everyone do their taxes?? Any procrastinators out there??
For the first time I am having an accountant do ours. Feels weird leaving it to someone else. He still is not done. I would have finished in early March. How did you do? Owe or refund??
"Spread the wealth around!", (that's not my quote, lol).
- We, well actually DW always procrastinates, she'll do them this weekend, we always get plenty of $ back so there's no rush, hee hee ☺!
On the contrary, if I was getting $$ back, I would file early. If I owed, I would not mail it until the final week. They hold your $$ all year without interest!!
