What's out your windows?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Lots of species tulips and other little bulbs poking up in my 'hot' bed by the south side of the house!

Spring's a comin'

Rosemont, ON(Zone 4a)

I looked out my window this morning and saw: two pairs of Canada geese. They're back! We have a 2-acre fish pond, and my DH insists on mowing large areas of grass next to it, and so it's perfect for geese. Every year we get three, four, or even five goose pairs nesting. At the moment, the pond is still frozen, and there are only a couple of places on the banks where the snow has melted, exposing brown grass, so I'm not sure what the early birds are eating. Does anyone else have spring birds to report?

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I dunno if they are SPRING birds, but we are seeing a couple of pairs of wild turkeys as we walk in the neighbourhood.

Rosemont, ON(Zone 4a)

We hear turkeys all year round, and see their tracks and the places they scratch for food, but they either become invisible or fly off when DH and I come crashing through the woods on our big feet (or snowshoes). You have to be very stealthy to creep up on them!

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

it;s currently snowing n Victoria. It won't last, but it's not welcome! I've even had to turn on the heat!

Calgary, Canada

And now it is in Calgary----I don't want to look out the window this morning!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Still gorgeous in Ottawa. Article in the paper said people are calling to have their summer tires put on. Big mistake! We are almost certain to have more snow at some point and it COULD be significant in late March.

After what seems like WEEKS of absolutely stellar weather .. we are being rained upon .. makes walking quite treacherous as it is so slick !!

Looks like Nfld got a majorly wicked ice storm ....

Still no crocuses, but I have sighted a red-winged blackbird and a chipmunk (not together).

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Most of my small bulbs in the 'hot' bed( south side of house between foundation and brick patio) are poking up- there are daffs, hyacinths, species tulips and little things like Chinodoxa and Squill.I trimmed off some peony stems and cleaned out the leaves and there are even a few small hints of pink on one of the older peonies! If we continue to have this warmer weather I will have lots of things coming up soon!

Rosemont, ON(Zone 4a)

Finally, some spring colour has appeared in the view from my living room window. The ice on our pond is turning pink. I kid you not.
