Ok Bator is loaded again, 16 of my eggs, 6 of a neighbors.. 4 are brown heavy layers he would like back if they hatch which is no problem, 2 are little banty eggs, he does not remember what kind, just that they are small... LOL he calls them barnyard mini chickens.. so it will be an interesting hatch... Calender is marked with important dates...
Incubating eggs for the first time... ALOT of questions
The excitement begins!
Yay! I can't wait to hear how it goes this time! I love the banty chicks - they are sooooo tiny!
If these hatch good, then I think we will be ready for the prided "S" eggs that Haystack and ZZ bicker who has more... Maybe next year I will join then in the race??? prolly not, they have a huge head start on me...
We lost Blushu yesterday, it was a bad day all around. So today against my better judgment, I went to the feed store to find a friend for Peanut... We walked out of there with 3 more friends for Peanut. 1 Black which Billy named Blushu2 and 2 Leghorns which he named Billy and Nanny. All 4 of them are getting along great, and peanut wont be lonely anymore.
Egg temps holding steady and I have a good feeling about these...
Moved the 3 week olds out side, big pen where they have plenty of room to grow, misplaced the red heat lamp, so I put a 100 watt bulb out there for them.. Hate when I clean up, I forget where I put things...
Cleaning is such a mistake!
I agree! I hate when my DH gets into cleaning mode, I can never find anything when he's done. It is nice having a clean house however.
So much work and so temporary...
I'm so sorry about your loss.. that happens though.. it's no fault of your own. I'm glad you were able to get replacement buddiez so there won't be any loneliness.
I have to wean my 3 week olds from the house. They had their first outing yesterday that was so comical to watch!
Cleaning? I'm so sick of it!! LOL This place is STARTING to look like my place again though!
Good luck on the new batch... =0)
Speaking of cleaning, ZZ is a saint! She offered to help me clean up my chicken yard (desperately needed)....but you are right, things do seem to disappear when you clean.
I am sure I had 6 newly hatched Serama this morning...but after ZZ helped me clean out some brooders and stuff, the babies are missing. Come to think of it, I am not sure where the other 10 juvenile Serama are....I seem to be getting awfully forgetful. Thank goodness I have a good friend like ZZ to help me keep things in order....
Well well, isn't that strange?! I'm sure ZZ put them in a safe place. So safe, even you can't find them. Yes, that must be it. Funny, she didn't volunteer to help me clean my coop when she was here in the dead of winter...
Did you have newly hatched chicks, Moxon? ZZ is very happy to help, but she seems especially helpful when there are new chicks.
LOL Claire! I couldn't even get to your place! If I could get my truck there.. Ummm then maby I could have helped you like I help Catsy! :) See? I'm helpful!!
I went to Catsy's and REALLY CLEANED HOUSE LOL I can't wait to go back and help myself some more.. I mean.. Ummm Help her.. Yeah, that's it.. It's all for Catsy.. right? he he heee
LOL I put my 3 week olds outside and now the weather has turned windy.. So I got the bug huge tarp, folded it 4 times and it covers the cage. I also put in a box on its side and they seem to like being in there instead of the light.. They have plenty of room to run and enjoying it. They should stay warm and toasty
When is your next hatch due MsJestr? I can't put mine out yet.. they are not weaned from the light all the way yet.. and 2 are way too small to go out.. but I wish I could!
MissJ! Don't tell ZZ when your hatch is!!! She'll come and "help" you with them!!!
LOl as long as she helps with the other chores...
ZZ which hatch?
Lets see I am thinking that the goose has been sitting for almost 3 weeks (Or more, duh did not write it down when I caught her sitting)
The duck has been sitting for about a week.
The bator has been filled for 4 days..so that would be the second week of April...
I hooked up a light outside for them as we got strong winds and chilly yesterday. I covered the coop with a tarp and they are doing fine. Today I will move the babies into the bigger tank in Billys room and then use the space right now for the garden plants so they can get some sun. They will go out Next weekend as this weekend is the Rodeo..
LOL Claire! I'm just trying to be helpful. :)
I wish I had power to the coop outside.. that sure would help things!
Just trying to figure when your bator will be empty. *wink*
