Lilies and hostas?

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Just wondering if hostas play well with lilies?

I sure hope so. I have some short lilies planned for this area.

I have quite a few lilies with hostas. I either pick hostas that take a little more sun, or I plant the lilies so they will get the most sun in the hosta area, but that's where the majoirty of my lilies are, in fact, in with the hostas.

got any pictures Polly?

About the only picture I have of anything are irises. I spent so much time getting pictures for the website last year, I almost didn't want to take another picture. This year.

Hi Andrew, glad to see you back here. Lilies do fine with hosta, but you'll need to pick the more shade tolerant types. Martagons are the most widely used, but many of the species prefer some shade.

I love my Martagones

Asiatics seem to do well in light shade. In deeper shade they will reach for the sun.....

Asiatics - some better than others, but the only way you'll know is from experience.

I have an acre to cover with plants because I don't want to mow the lawn. Lots of mature trees so I figured hostas would take up space. Thanks for your insight.

Sounds like a good plan
