Seed Swap Chat #53 (sowing the seeds!)

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Good luck Lynn :) I'll try and save some seeds and see if these germinate next year or send you some if you want them I've never even looked at the seeds for them just see the pods everywhere. I do watch for the worms because my neighbor likes to fish with them but too many birds around here they eat them all lol One day you see them and that afternoon by the time he gets home they are gone. It's really strange because I don't notice them until all of a sudden they are fat worms! lol

Do you cut your dusty millers down in the spring? I've never cut mine down I've been afraid I would kill it so I'm asking here what to do with it do I just let it go or give it a trim?

Lea,
Saw the reference to the mouse family so looked them up
& apparently I haven't got voles at all.
Critter I have is pictured below. Pardon my "city gal" ignorance
and thanks for the enlightenment.

Chipmunks forget it.
My feral colony keeps the rodent population down.

Finally over 50 degrees here 2 days in a row. Spring is finally coming!!!!
Hubby is cleaning up yard debris in an area I didn't expect. Which means I have yet another new garden to build this year. I planned on one large patio garden and one small shrub garden near the driveway with the lot we bought next door, now I realize I have room for a lengthy wetland shade garden. So much more than expected :)

I went to a local flower show yesterday. It wasn't very big but I learned a couple things. Like which herbs to use as water indicators (think echinacea) and even more about companion planting with bulbs. The person doing the particular lecture I went to used to work with Roger Swain- the old Victory Garden host. Also, talked to a few guys about organic lawn care, and found out you can treat poison ivy (to kill it) with Clove oil. I have poison ivy on disturbed land near my new future herb garden (yes another one!) and patio site. It's near the wetlands so I can't spray it. I have to get it out of there before I can do the hardscaping for the area (raised stone bed gardens).
Time to order Clove oil in bulk. (and nematodes for the grubs).

I need to take some before, during and after pics to share with you guys.
